IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students . The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admissions Overview

The application portal is open for foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Admissions are for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. The institute may accept other language tests.

Selection Process

Final admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
