IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This is typically done through a self-declaration statement.

Application Requirements

Candidates must provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. The institution may require scores from standardized tests.

Standardized Test Scores

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from tests such as:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International English proficiency tests are also required. These include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination scores.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The interview panel will evaluate candidates’ overall suitability for the program.
