Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals can apply for the 2026-27 academic year . Applications are submitted online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Admission Process
The application portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
A valid score from an English language proficiency test is also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
