IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) courses. The admission window is for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. IST.

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students can apply via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters for the applicant.

Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will also assess proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking are evaluated. English oral and written proficiency is also assessed.

IIT Delhi may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores are also considered. Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scores are an option.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also considered.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
