IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will be assessed on candidate aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Academic and Language Proficiency Scores
For PhD and PG programs, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.
English language proficiency must be demonstrated through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Applicants will be evaluated based on their performance in these tests.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will assess their suitability for the program.
