IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.
Admission Process
Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Applicants need to provide a statement declaring English proficiency. They must also list two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referee Recommendations
Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This assessment is part of the official notification requirements.
Eligibility Criteria and Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from national examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Procedure
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
