IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can apply via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses. The academic year for these admissions is 2026-27 .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English oral and written abilities.

Academic Qualifications and Test Scores

To be considered for admission to PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national-level tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. English proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are mandatory.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
