Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Admission Process
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted for recommendation letters.
According to the notification, referees will assess candidates on overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
IIT Delhi will admit students based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an interview invitation. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
Furthermore, applicants must submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
