IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students | Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-2027.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Candidates may be required to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • For PhD and PG Programs: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
  • International Examinations: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
  • English Proficiency Tests: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or equivalent tests.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on the candidate’s performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees from their chosen disciplines.
