IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Eligible candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Eligibility

The institute is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes candidates holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a self-declaration of their language skills.

Candidates must also provide contact information for two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. Their assessment will cover the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic and Entrance Exam Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International applicants may also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to participate. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
