IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 . Interested students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Eligibility is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. The application deadline is firm at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. Their assessment will cover the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Academic and Test Score Requirements

For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from specific entrance examinations. These include India’s Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Proof of English proficiency is mandatory. This can be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also acceptable.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance during an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview assesses overall suitability for the program.
