IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide contact information for two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The notification stated that referees would comment on these areas.
Eligibility and Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams such as GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from GRE or GMAT may also be required for admission.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other equivalent tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The institute will provide admission on this basis.
The application portal will remain open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Interested international students should visit international.iitd.ac.in to submit their applications.
