Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Application Process
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. The application requires the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Furthermore, candidates must provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the program.
