IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students 2026

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply through the official website. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.

Admission Details

IIT Delhi is offering admission to its PhD and PG courses for the academic year 2026-27. International students are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Standard admission criteria may include scores from national tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also recognized.

International students may also submit scores from tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or Cambridge English are required.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
