The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. The application portal will close at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility and Entrance Exams
IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance examinations for PhD and PG admissions. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in written and oral English.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on a candidate’s performance in an interview. Those with a strong academic record will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
