IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are submitted online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.

Applicants must provide a statement of English language proficiency. They must also list two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The notification states referees will comment on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

English proficiency test scores are also necessary. Acceptable tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Candidates will be invited for an interview. This interview will be with a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. Admission decisions will be based on interview performance and academic records.
