IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are due by March 30, 2026 . Interested foreign nationals can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Required Scores and Assessments

IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international entrance examinations. These can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Additionally, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for this interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
