Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic years 2026-27.

Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission may require scores from national or international tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International students may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. A committee of faculty members will interview students with strong academic records. The interview assesses overall aptitude and suitability for the chosen discipline.
