IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application portal is open until March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Admission Requirements

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examinations are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
