The Swiss Government Excellence Post Doc Scholarships 2026 – 2027 offers a significant opportunity for early-career postdoctoral researchers. This prestigious scholarship, provided by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), aims to support full-time research pursuits in Switzerland. Successful candidates will receive a comprehensive support package designed to facilitate their academic endeavors.
The selected candidates will receive the following benefits:
• A monthly scholarship of CHF 1,920 (₹2,09,957.38 approx.) specifically allocated to cover living expenses for a maximum duration of 12 months.
• Coverage for health insurance, ensuring access to necessary medical care during their stay.
• A one-time grant of CHF 300 to assist with rental deposit costs.
• A Half-Fare Travelcard, enabling discounted public transport across Switzerland.
• A return flight allowance for applicants originating from non-EU/EFTA countries, easing travel expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, an applicant must:
• Have completed their PhD thesis between 1 January 2023 and 31 July 2026 (for ETH Zürich: by 30 June 2026).
• Be pursuing full-time postdoctoral research in Switzerland.
• Possess a letter of support from an academic supervisor based in Switzerland.
Required Documents
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
• A detailed research plan, which should include a clear timeline outlining key milestones and planned activities.
• A letter of support from an academic supervisor in Switzerland. This letter must also include a short Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the supervisor.
• A copy of the registration confirmation or residence permit. This is applicable if the applicant is already residing in Switzerland, with an entry date no earlier than 01 August 2025.

5. Create edu-ID: Then click on the ‘Switch edu-ID • Registration’ link to create an authenticated electronic identity, which is essential for the application.
6. edu-ID Registration: Fill in all the requested details for the edu-ID registration and click on the ‘Register’ button.
7. Verification: You will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) and a verification link via email.
8. Finalize Application: Enter the OTP or click on the provided link to complete your registration and proceed with the final submission of your application.
