Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is accessible via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
The application window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Candidates with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards are also considered eligible.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.
Eligibility Criteria
In addition to academic qualifications, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. English language proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are required.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs for international students will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
