IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility and Requirements

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Proof of English language proficiency through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is mandatory. IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct interviews for candidates with strong academic records.

Admissions are for the academic years 2026-27 . The application portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. Applicants are advised to review specific program requirements on the IIT Delhi international admissions website.
