IIT Delhi has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Applications are accepted through the official website: international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can apply. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
The application portal will close at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Admission Criteria
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission. These include:
- Indian Entrance Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: GRE, GMAT.
Proficiency in English is mandatory. Applicants must submit scores from English language tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
