IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Students can submit applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website,international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement confirming their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude and field proficiency. Potential for research and independent thinking is also evaluated. English language skills are a key consideration for referees.
Required Scores and Assessments
Candidates may need to submit scores from specific entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. Scores from international tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with faculty members. The interview committee will represent the relevant academic discipline.
