IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

The application window for foreign nationals is open until 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills, according to official notifications.

Eligibility and Entrance Exams

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE).

International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. Additionally, candidates must provide scores from English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
