IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs . Applications are for international students for the 2026-27 academic year . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude. They will assess proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking will also be evaluated. English language proficiency will be a key factor.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores are also considered. The DST INSPIRE program score is another option.

For international applicants, scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may be required. English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, and TOEIC are also necessary. Other recognized tests include OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.

Selection Process

Admission is based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview committee of faculty members will conduct the interview.
