About This Scholarship

The SOF-International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO) 2025-26 is an esteemed opportunity provided by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) for students in Class 1 to 10. This single-level examination evaluates participants across various domains of general knowledge and is judged at four distinct levels: school, city, zonal, and international.

Students participating in the IGKO stand a chance to receive significant awards, including cash prizes, medals, and certificates, recognizing their outstanding performance. The awards are distributed across international and zonal levels, along with participation certificates for all students.

International Level Awards:

• The 1st rank holders (up to 10 students) will receive an award of ₹50,000 each, a gold medal, and a Certificate of Outstanding Performance.
• The 2nd rank holders (up to 10 students) will receive an award of ₹25,000 each, a silver medal, and a Certificate of Outstanding Performance.
• The 3rd rank holders (up to 10 students) will receive an award of ₹10,000 each, a bronze medal, and a Certificate of Outstanding Performance.

Note: If two or more students achieve the same international rank:
• For up to 10 students sharing a rank, the cash award will be distributed equally among them. Each winner will also receive a medal (in the applicable category) and a certificate.
• In cases where 11 or more students secure the same rank, each winner will be awarded gifts worth ₹1,000, a medal in the applicable category, and a certificate, instead of the cash award.

Zonal Level Awards:

• The 1st rank holder will receive an award of ₹5,000, a zonal gold medal, and a Certificate of Zonal Excellence.
• The 2nd rank holder will receive an award of ₹2,500, a zonal silver medal, and a Certificate of Zonal Excellence.
• The 3rd rank holder will receive an award of ₹1,000, a zonal bronze medal, and a Certificate of Zonal Excellence.
• Students ranking from 4th to 10th will receive gifts worth ₹500 each, a medal, and a Certificate of Distinction.
• Students ranking from 11th to 25th will receive a medal and a Certificate of Distinction.
• All rank holders at the 26th position and above will receive a Participation Certificate and a Student Performance Report.

Note: If two or more students achieve the same zonal rank:
• For up to 5 students sharing a rank, the cash award will be distributed equally among them. Each winner will also receive a medal (in the applicable category) and a certificate.
• In cases where 6 or more students secure the same rank, each winner will be awarded gifts worth ₹1,000, a medal (in the applicable category), and a certificate, instead of the cash award.
• For single-level exams and the first level of 2-level exams, a Medal of Distinction and a Certificate of Distinction are awarded. Zonal medals and Certificates of Zonal Excellence are awarded for the second-level performance.

Every participating student will also receive a participation certificate.

The deadline for application is November 7, 2025. The examinations are scheduled on three dates: September 25, 2025, October 8, 2025, and November 7, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the SOF International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO) 2025-26, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria:

• The applicant must be studying in Class 1 to 10.
• The student must be enrolled in a recognized institution/school.

How to Apply

Eligible candidates are primarily required to apply for the SOF International General Knowledge Olympiad through their respective school authorities. Follow these steps for application:

1. Student Action: Students interested in participating should contact their school authority directly to express their interest and understand the internal application process.
2. School Registration:
• Schools already registered with SOF will receive a prospectus containing the necessary registration forms.
• Schools that have not yet registered with SOF can request a prospectus by sending an email to info@sofworld.org or by calling (0124)-4951200.
3. Form Submission: Schools must ensure that the registration forms, duly filled and complete in all respects, are returned to SOF by the specified due date. The forms should be sent to the following address:

4. Registration Fees:
• Schools in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal are required to pay SOF a registration fee of ₹125 (including GST) per student per Olympiad.
• For schools in other countries, the registration fee is USD 11 per student per Olympiad.
• Schools have the option to charge an additional amount of ₹25 (or USD 1 for other countries) per student. This additional charge covers administrative costs such as an honorarium for the in-charge, remuneration for guiding teachers, and other related expenses.

5. Fee Exemptions:
• No examination fee is payable for students who suffer from any major physical disability.
• Indian students whose parent was martyred during defense operations are also exempt from paying the registration fee.
