IIT Delhi opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are accepted online for the 2026-27 academic year . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Eligibility and Application Process
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on candidate aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Admission Requirements
Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview committee will comprise faculty members from the relevant discipline.
