IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must declare their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International applicants may also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates are also required to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. They will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
