Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic years 2026-27.
Application Process
Interested candidates must submit an English proficiency statement or self-declaration. They will also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
The application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
