IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Indian Tests: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE.
  • International Tests: GRE, GMAT.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees from their chosen discipline. The interview will assess their suitability for the program.
