The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline for international students is March 30, 2026 . Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission to PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program. International applicants may also submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Specific score requirements are available on the institute’s website.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will grant admission based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview panel will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the program.
