IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Academic and Test Score Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national Indian entrance exams such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations, among others.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will receive an invitation. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
