IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement detailing their English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude and research potential.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Applicants can use scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also considered.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation. An interview committee, composed of faculty from the relevant discipline, will conduct the selection.
