Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. Accepted tests include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview panel consists of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
