IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply for admission for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement.

Applicants need to provide details for two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess the candidate’s aptitude and research potential. They will also comment on English language skills.

Required Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other acceptable tests are Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET).

Scores from the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program may also be considered. International applicants can submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proof of English language proficiency is also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may be accepted.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews.

The admission portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Candidates should ensure all required documents and scores are submitted by this date.
