IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Process

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission to IIT Delhi programs is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee. Applicants may also need to provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
