IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply until March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates should visit the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will be contacted for recommendation letters. The referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. A committee of faculty members will interview candidates with strong academic records. The interview will assess their suitability for the chosen discipline.
