IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Process

Interested candidates must apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.

Applicants need to provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They must also submit the names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the institute’s admission notification.

Eligibility and Requirements

Candidates may be required to submit scores from national entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

Scores from international standardized tests are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

In addition, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
