IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit applications online. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. The window closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.
Candidates will also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will interview candidates with strong academic records. The interview assesses overall aptitude and suitability for the program.
