IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.
Referee Recommendations
Candidates are required to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. This is a mandatory part of the application process.
Eligibility Criteria
Admission requirements may include scores from national and international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proficiency in English language tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or Cambridge English is also required. IIT Delhi will consider scores from these international examinations.
Selection Process
The final selection will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
