IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window for the academic year 2026-27 is now open. Non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses.
Applicants must submit a statement on their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply letters of recommendation. These referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
For international applicants, scores from exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may be required.
English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Applicants must declare their proficiency in English.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
