Admission Eligibility
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referee Recommendations
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude and field-specific proficiency. They will also comment on research potential, independent thinking abilities, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.
Required Test Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from examinations like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other acceptable scores include those from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program is also a valid route.
International Examination Scores
IIT Delhi also accepts scores from international standardized tests. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). These scores may be required for certain programs.
English Proficiency Tests
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also considered.
Selection Process
Final admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview committee consists of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
