IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Master’s degree programs from international students. The application window is open until March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration confirming their English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.

For admission to PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from specific national entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Furthermore, proof of English language proficiency is required. Candidates must submit scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate performance during an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to participate in this interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.

The application deadline for international students seeking admission to the academic year 2026-27 is March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM . All applications must be completed through the designated online portal.
