IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are being accepted until March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.

Application Process

Interested candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The application window closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants need to provide a statement of English proficiency. They must also submit names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Candidates are also required to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Selection

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their suitability for the program.
