IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for Foreign Nationals

IIT Delhi opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

The official application portal is international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian citizens. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to provide a self-declaration of their English skills.

The application requires the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude. Comments will cover their chosen field proficiency. Referee feedback will also address research potential and independent thinking. English speaking and writing skills will be assessed.

Admission Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from specific tests. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. These are for PhD and PG program eligibility.

International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include GRE and GMAT. English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Acceptable tests are TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English. Other language tests may also be valid.

Selection Process

Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be with a faculty committee. The committee will be from the relevant academic discipline.
