IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are submitted online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement on their English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
The institute requires scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
The academic year for these programs is 2026-27 .
