IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window is open until March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. Candidates will need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. This interview assesses a candidate’s suitability for the chosen program.
