IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

International students, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also relevant.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are also required.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The interview assesses candidates’ suitability for the program.
