IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to PhD and postgraduate programs for the 2026-2027 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

These referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking abilities, and English language skills, according to the admission notification.

Admission Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme for PhD and PG programs.

International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores are also considered. English proficiency test scores from exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination are required.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG courses for international students will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive invitations for interviews with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
